k so, got some sad news, today my car was broken into while i was at school, they stole my Sony xplod deck along with a 2nd gen ipod touch, pretty sad about that,
i was wondering though, has anyone ever come accross any type of cheap motion censored vehicle recording systems? that starts recording when motion is detected, made for cars that will fit somewhere inside? and not very noticable? i thought this would be a great thing to use cause in my area its getting more common and just annoying, 3 of my friends have had their car broken into in the last 2 months
so anyone come across anything like that?
they did you a favor when they stole the sony xplod son, go get a pioneer.
get an alarm with motion sense and glass break sensors, rigging up recording of audio-video would be another $400ish or more. i don't know of any setups that run off 12v out of the box.
I've seen CCTV cameras advertised to go in cars, but never seen any in action. I pulled the factory security system out of a junked Corolla for $25 and it works decently except for not being able to find a remote to work with it (yet). You could, of course, just fool the robber. Buy a CCTV camera (or something official looking) and just bolt it to something inside the car, stickers that say "Smile for the camera" would help, too.
motion recording and cheap do not belong in the same sentence. To do it right, your spending more then the car is worth. Id just do the same I have, a compustar 2 way alarm. It has a proximity sensor, and glass break. I think its about 450 installed.

Boost, may you RIP.
If you put a motion sensing camera in your isn't it going to be on the whole time? For example if people walk by the car outside.
Lol yeah, someone walks by and it just records useless information..but then again it could help just in case one of those that walk by are attempting to break in, you could get a face id from the camera.
something that would just face from the passengers foot rest underneath the glove box, facing the drivers seat, so it wouldnt record that much motion of whats going on outside, only see if some1 came right up the glass or opened the door,
but ya i didnt think it was cheap, just thought id ask
Just stopped at a car audio store for speakers and the salesman said they have alarm systems from $150 to $700 installed. He said his system had alarms hidden inside the car and I guess in the engine compartment for outside the car. He said the inside alarm is so loud that it hurts your ears bad and that you have to get out of the car immediately to avoid damaging your ear drums. He said it drives the theaf out before he has time to steal anything. He also says it has a level sensor and if the car it tilted, the alarms go off.
Never looked into alarms myself so I am just passing this along. I am going stealth with the stock CD changer and a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 signal processor to avoid theft.
