the function is kinda cool, but usually you don't really need this. It's like the bass boost feature on an amp. Most audiophiles will say that they never enable the bass boost because it damages your sub when you crank up the volume.

thanks man, I'm actually suprised that someone responded. I thought this was a lost cause. But do you actually own one or owned one? I understand that it's like a bass boost but, does it actually work well with the amps, being that there is only one model and so many different models of amps. Na mean? It's not like they updated their remote technology. Thanks gameguru.

sorry bro, i dont usually traffic this as its my wifes car. i bought the new knewood amps the x1200 and the x600, although i wont need it for the 600, you definitely need it for the 1200. w/o it the bass is there but it is terrible and you pretty much have to max out your radio. after i bought it and hook it up i was extremely happy and yes it does work great, i have mine set at about 100 for the freq., and i have the boost at about 55% and my radio is set to -5, the 2 cvx's thump quite nicely.
yea i just noticed you had the 1200, your subs are not hitting like they should, buy the remote and treat em right. just remember to set your amp to zero.

thanks man, Looks like I may be getting the remote, if i can get for a good deal. I don't know if it's necessary, cause i have a bass (subwoofer control on my deck or eq). where did you get your remote from?
what are you talking about setting your amp to zero? Gains? You got to turn it up a little man, depending on your deck. My deck puts out 5 volts and my eq can put up to 9 volts preamps. So I'm not to sure on what you mean on set my amp to zero. let me know thanks for the info.

i apologize i typed to fast before. before you hook up the remote ensure its turned all the way to the left (0). you can set the power on the amp where you want to.
also i have a good radio and the bass control on it by itself even with the amp w/o a remote is still far different than with the remote. trust me if you like thump and such and want to maximize that 1200 youll buy the remote.

Yeah this shit rocks. Man the bass is turned up so little on the remote, but the gain is huge! I do recommend to get this if you get the x1200m amp also. They should so it's required or some shit. But this remote is simple, but does give monsteous bass gains. Very small and easy to install, and easy to adjust on the fly. Finally a answer for my question. Thanks Biggg!

I have one made by Memphis on my sub and IMO its a must have if you like different genres of music and your HU doesn't have a sub level control.
Mine is just RCA line in and line out. It doesn't change the gain nor does it boost/exceed the HU input. It simply reduces the signal it receives from the HU. Set it up so its perfect at 75%, then you have an additional 25% when you want to 'turn it up'.

Well the situation I was in is because the Kenwood amps doesn't come with a bass gain at all on the amp. So this is the only other way of increasing the bass signal thru the amp. But my deck does have a sub control, and that has a bass gain, but it comes not even close to the kenwood bass remote.
I do recommend on the combination of the Kenwood X1200m amp and the bass remote, if buying this specific amp. It's worth the extra money.
