Help!

I'm new to the Toyota World. Just got a 86 Rolla sedan and I want to put my cd player in. It isn't much, but it's a temporary upgrade til i get something better. Anyway, I seem to be having a problem w/ fitting it (width -wise) into place. I still need to get an installation kit but my problem is; the beauty ring in the car was preeviously cut to reinstall a factory radio into the car. And now that I own it I want my cd player in it. But, it is just as big as the whole cut, if not bigger. I want to have the clean look and know I'll need an installation kit. But it appears the dash cover that completes the install isn't accomodating to allow me to do so. Am I missing something?

thanks! well the problem isnt getting it IN the mounting spot. The problem is the size of the dash cover that fits around it. It doesn't have a plate that goes around the radio itself. ANd the guy that had it before had cut a lil around the edges of the dash cover to slide the toyota radio in it. Therefore it appears the factory dash cover isnt originally big enough let alone i would have to cut a lil more to fit my cd player in. And it gets me that ALL receivers are basically the same width. Oh well, I guess I would have to take pictures for a better understanding. It's hard to put something in words when it's right in front of me and I have never had a problem w/ throwing systems in cars.
