alarm installation... need help installing (couple of issues)

hey everyone. i just spent the last weekend installing a new compustar alarm that i got in my gen 4 camry. i just finished hooking up most of the wires, however, theres a couple of questions i have right now. for the remote start, it says to hook up the engine sensing wire to the alternator wire. where would i find that wire? also it seems as though my drivers side door will not lock or unlock with the press of the power lock button anymore, so i think i cut a wire somewhere by mistake, but i cant seem to find that wire, does anyone know what went wrong there? thanks everyone

The power door lock / unlock wires are usually located behind the kickpanels.

For your sake I hope you have a DMM, cos it sounds like your blindly cutting wires.

yes i know which wires are the power lock/ unlock wires. thanks. but something else just came up now. it seems that when i lock my drivers door by hand, i cannot unlock any other door using any of the power switches. however, if i unlock the drivers door by hand... all of the doors can lock/unlock using the switch, but the drivers door wont lock/unlock with the switch... so i dont think it is a cut wire anymore. does anyone have any ideas? also for those of you with a remote start and an automatic...where did u hook up the engine sensing wire?

You should recheck all the wires to the door locks again.
Power Lock: dk. blue/white - org plug bottom of fusebox
Notes: The lock wires are about 18 gauge. They will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself.

Power Unlock: dk. blue - org plug bottom of fusebox
Notes: The lock wires are about 18 gauge. They will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself.

You will need to connect the Key Sense wire also.
Keysense: blue/black - ignition harness

For the tachometer.
Tachometer: black or gray
Notes: On the 4 cylinder motor use the black wire in the gray plug at the coil on the drivers side of the motor. On the 6 cylinder motor use the gray wire located at the ignitor on a bracket just in front of the strut tower. The module says Denso on it.

Make sure you have an immobilizer bypass as well.

The keysense wire needs to see a negative input while the car is starting as if a key were in the ignition cylinder, if it doesn't see it, the remote start won't hold/start. You should find a wire from the alarm/remote start that will send a negative output when the remote start is activated.

woohoo... thanks everyone. after about 6 more hours of sitting in the car wondering what goes where, i finally got it all hooked up. theres a few wires i've left unhooked but i'll figure out those later. all the important features work right now (the remote start, and the alarm itself). THis is one KICK ASS alarm. i'd recommend the compustar alarm to anyone (but let someone else do the install ) thanks again!
