hello i just install mcintosh MC420 amp and couple days later my battery is dead. so i end up buying the yellow top battery. i have mcintosh MC420 amp for my 4 speakers and JL audio e1200 amp for my JL audio W0 12" sub.
here are my questions:
1. do mcintosh amp use a lot of electric?
2. i have a capacitor and do i keep it or uninstall it?
3. do you think is better i connect the 12" sub to mcintosh amp. so just use 1 amp for speakers and sub. will that save some electric?
4. do i need to buy a bigger alternator? like 150amp?
5. i have good battery now and do i need to install the big 3?
1. Yes
2. You have already paid for it, and I bet it has a nice volt meter, so i say keep it.
3. It will save some electric, but you will loose a lot of tweaking ability, keep it the way it is.
4. No
5. The big three won't hurt, I say do it just because you can.
It sounds like something is using power when the car is off, or you battery was junk, or your alternator is failing. You know the batt is good now, so have the alternator tested. Put a multimeter on your grounds to check their resistance, it should be very low resistance. take off the ground on the battery and connect it through the probes on the multimeter red goes on the cable and black on the battery post, test the amperage draw when the car is off, it should be in the milliamp range. don't turn the car on though, it will most likely blow the fuse in your multimeter if you do.
what is power wire? i connect my sub and amps to the positive battery. is that correct? thanks
that is why your battery was drained.. you connected your sub and amp(with a power wire) to the positive battery terminal. This essentially provides a constant 12v source for your amps. They are on drawing power even when the car is off. You must connect them to the NEGATIVE battery terminal.

Negative battery terminal?(black)? really? because I thought the remote wire tells your amp to accept the 12 volt power from your battery( Positive Terminal (red)?

you are good man, you don't have to upgrade your alternator.
oh wait, are you talking about adding this amp, to your two other amps? or swapping a amp out?
i mean swapping the JL audio e1200 amp and JL audio W0 12" sub out. i plan to get 12" mcintosh sub (350 watts) and mcintosh mono amp (300 watts). i don't know if my new battery or stock alternaror can handel it or not?
