Kenwood 2-Din Multimedia DVD Receiver With GPS (DNX6140) $1,299.99
Pioneer 5.8" In-Dash Car Video with GPS (AVIC-X710BT) $999.99
Which of those would be better. Or anything else thats better then these 1300 is stretching the $$. Any ideas on what i should put in for a good nav system? Ipod control is required lol.
the avic-x710bt is good, the 910bt is better b/c it has a DVD player. some searching on the web will show prices significantly better than WORST BUY... lol... for eg, sonicelectronix has the 910 bt for 800 i think...
i'm getting a 910bt soon, pioneer has a $100 rebate on it as well, as long as you buy from an authorized pioneer retailer...

I have the Pioneer Avic f90BT. It's retail value was over $1000 when it came out but you can get most of them on eBay or amazon for at least 40% off, which is what I did. The reason I love it so much is because it has a very active modding community and you can get free hacked updates and maps.

actually, i do have more questions.
I want a dash nav that will work with my steering wheel controls. My car also has the blu logic and i would like to be able to use it, and not have wasted my money buying it by getting a deck that has it built in. dunno if thats possible but any ideas or help is great thanks
So no to the kenwood? or does no one really know about it/have one
i was looking at the kenwood... people seem to be hit or miss with the pioneer units. lots of software issues.. so i guess when its working well its a good product. pioneer heavily rebated the older units, and are giving rebates on the newer ones now, so i think thats telling...
Just based on my personal experance STAY AWAY from the Pioneer AVIC-X910BT.
The Pioneer AVIC-X910BT is a waste of money!!! Had it in my car for a week and took it out because it is such a bad unit.
This unit takes about a minute to start up after turning on your car. In the start up time you can't use the unit at all.
Navigation: The navigation system in this unit will show you about three blocks behind were you are really at. It will also show you traveling in the opposite direction from which you are going. It will eventually catch up to where you are after about a block or so only to lose your location on the next block. The whole time the GPS system says that the accuracy is "High". The route guidance is horrible as well it will tell you to go several block out of the way when it is set to the "Fast" location.
iPod:The thing that I hated about this iPod interface is that every time that you want to listen to the iPod it wants to catalog the information from the iPod which takes aprox 2 minutes and all iPod functions are locked during this catalog process."
If i buy another navi unit I will get the OEM Navi unit for the corolla or the Navi for the Scion TC. Save your money on the Pioneer unit.

me personally, i love my kenwood units. the new 9140 has so many features its crazy. i will be getting this unit as soon as i get the cash for it. i currently have the 8190, and a kvt-715. botha re awesome units and have never given me anything but greatness. if i wasnt an electronics junky i probally wouldnt even get the new unit, but i like having new toys with lots of gadgets. im not knocking any of the other units but been there done that.
sidenote, i read a few other posts, it doesnt have this ipod issue either. when you click on ipod it starts playing, and you can goto albums, artists, songs, one more cant recall right now.

I have the f90bt and while startup does take a minute, you can turn off VR Catalog mode and I've never had a problem with the nav like you described.
