Any aftermarkter CD player would in installed in the DIN slot above your HVAC controls, replaceing the cassette player.
The way you worded it, is that the oem CD player would be in a different location. Im unfamiliar if there would be an option to have a trunk CD player.

ok so lets say i replace the cassette player/radio controls wit an aftermarket one...so now i have 2 CD players cuz the stock on is completely separate from the controls and stuff. what do i do with that one now? just have 2 cd players? or is there something i can put in its place?
what do you mean by second CD player? Where is it located?
You can probably get rid of since you wont need it.
If i may make a suggestion about a new headunit, Get one with a USB input. I have all my music on a thumb drive in my glove box. I dont even use CD's any more.

Corollas came with the option of having an in-dash multi disc changer below the DIN pocket above the cup holders.

Honestly, I don't know if it would suit you, but I would go with a cd player up top, and an in dash equalizer below. I mean why not use the space for something?
no, don't use the top as it looks longer than the bottom so you probably wont find anything that will fit... best thing to do is replace the bottom tape deck because that's exactly where an aftermarket one would go either way, the top one leave it there as a decoy. Just tell your passengers not to put any cd's there.
You could actually put a double-din DVD deck on the bottom part as the pocket under the tape deck is removable.

The top CD player is a standard DIN size, pretty much any HU will fit there.
I have my CD player up there and two DIN pockets below for storage.

oh ok thanks! so did your's originally look like mine? and u just replaced the top cd player wit the aftermarket one and removed the cassette/radio controls on the lower part?
when u removed the cassette portion did u have to clean it up a good bit so it to use it at storage?

Mine was flipped, cassette above, and CD changer below. I removed the CD changer and just replaced with an off the shelf DIN pocket. You can get them online anywhere or from a local stereo store.
