Question help: power issues

Howdy. I have a 1991 Camry and I recently tried to upgrade the stereo. To make a long story short, the new one didn't take, and there's been a lot of mysterious collateral damage, like the clock resetting every time the car starts. Now the original stereo doesn't work either.

The crux of the problem seems to be that the power wire coming from the battery, which should supply a constant 12V, isn't working. It supplies ~0.3 V always. I assume this is also what's causing the clock to reset. The power wire coming from ignition works fine (gives 12V when the car is on). All the fuses are intact.

Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? Thanks!

-Dylan

humm... I'm getting 12V straight off the battery terminals. This makes me think the problem is somewhere "in between."

Not sure if this makes a difference, but the battery lead at the stereo end jumps from 0.3V to 10V when the car is turned on...

hmmm....well, the only reason why I think that its the battery is cuz of what you said about your clock going out too....

I remember before I changed my battery and I was pushing some bass, I could tell my battery was dead by when the bass hit, my headunit would reset.....not enough power to keep it on and continue feeding output.....

my battery got to the point where this happened while I was driving....now that was kinda freaky....

you may have the volts, but you might not have any amps. no amps, nothing to push the voltage. take it to parts store and have it checked. most will do it for free.
