i got a 99 camry v6 in which i am running 2 jl audio 12w6v2's powered by the jl 1000/1 monoblock amp and plan on upgrading to the 13w7 and also getting the jl audio 450/4 for the inside speakers. of course, my lights go dim and was wondering if getting the hid conversion kit would eliminate this problem (atleast for the 1000watt sub system) or if it would be better to get a better alternator (mine already sorta squeeks). i was thinking about getting the stinger alternator but was reading that some of you guys have had problems with their products. i read another thread about using a sienna alternator ( http://toyotanation.com/showthread.p...145&forumid=15 ) and was wondering if something similar to that would be my best bet. i dont want to get more voltage out of it, just more amps. so i dont want to do something as extreme as the sienna alternator on crack, just a better toyota one if possible.
check out the link in my first post, i already have a 1.0 farad stinger digital cap as well. im using 4 AWG wire from the battery to the cap and from the cap to the amp.
Hello and you are running a good amount of power and the stock alternator will only keep running for a little while longer.I would upgrade to a 180 amp or 200 amp alternator and you will have no worries.Make sure they upgrade the ground wire to a nice beefy size.A capacitor is only a bandaid in this case, he needs power on demand and his stock alternator CANNOT KEEP UP!
im planning on adding at the very least one jl audio 300/2 for the front components and later a second for the rear 6x9's, and im in the process of acquiring a second 13w7 to accompany the extra jl 1000/1 amp i got sitting in my room. i plan on getting an optima yellowtop and upgrading the ground wire to atleast 4AWG and perhaps a 150amp alternator from here
