Hey guys, i just recently sold my alpine type r to a buddy of mine, got tired of it. Im now trying to build a system for sound quality, something in the middle, not super highend. I already have picked my amp is its going to be a JL Audio HD 900/5 amp which will already cost me $688. I need some recommendation on some speakers for my 2005 Toyota Camry LE. The fronts will be replaced by a set of 6.5" components and the back will stay 6x9's. As for bass, what are some good quality 8" subs? that can take 250watts each? since i will be getting two. any recomendations or change in amps and what not will be greatly appreciated. price range, i would like to keep around $1500 or less.
RE Audio is always a good way to go and are also found relatively cheap. I have 2 10's in a sealed box, ~600 watts in total for the both of them and they are very SQ oriented

Hey MrSo0h0o! Queens! I'm in manhattan...you know any camry owner meet ups?
the JL Audio 900/5 HD amp should be pretty sweet. I have JL Audio everything in my car, 2 13.5" W7s, 2 1000/1 amps, 2 sets of the 6.5" ZR components. I would recommend going with one of their lower end subs, W3V3 or something similar should match up well with the amp. check out jl audio's web site, http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?page_id=200 , they give power ratings at RMS for all their subs. Looks like the 8" W3V3 does 250 watts RMS. 8" sub is kinda small and will not take as much power. 10" and 12" are a more standard size and will take more power.
There are plenty of great companies out there, I've just had great luck with my W7s for the last 7 years from JL Audio and am very biased!
this is the widest range of opinion i have ever seen! focal is not only 5x the price the the first too its 100x better. that being said alot of things factor on his musical taste and the design of the enclosure.
as for the 6x9's scratch that. just do some quality components up front. the rear fill is way useless unless you are always carring people around. think of how your ears are shaped.

My suggestions would be Image Dynamics ID or IDQ (Subs) , and CDT or Arc Audio Arc series components or subs. I think some Diamond Audio products will be around the same cost also.
The Arc Audio 6000 component set is amazing but it really depends on what you like. I've seen the Arc Audio 6000 components for significantly less than the $450 that they have on their website. These speakers have silk tweeters and some people don't like how they sound and prefer metal tweeters like MB Quartz.

i hate tiny sounding tweets. mb quart is the worst. arc makes some really nice stuff for sure! the cdt stuff you can get off ebay for pennies on the dollar sometimes. its personally what i am using in my project car.

As an update, i changed my budget do to around $500. I got a 10" Alpine type-r and a jl audio 500/1 original slash series for all of $350. the stock speakers arnt too bad with the high pass filter set at 80hz, but i feel like i should upgrade my stock speakers. to start off im not looking to amp my speakers yet. i believe my alpine cda-105 puts out 18watts rms. again i have a gen 5.5 camry. has anyone installed speakers in their gen 5 or 5.5 camry before? im looking to do it myself but i dont have the brackets to install them.

i totally bypassed my stock system and installed all new speakers, amps, wiring, the works. for speaker baffles, contact MrMarv(google it). he made baffles for me and he should still have the template. Search for threads I made for some of my build pics.
factory systems are just crap, but it's always good to at least have a basic system so that the factory wiring is put in play, then you can just replace the components and add to it.
