Subs in an '02 Higlander with JBL

Hi, I'm your average 16 year old that wants to be heard and enjoys loud music. A friend is giving me a great deal on some great subs and I want to install them myself. I still have the stock stereo with the JBL speakers in there. I know I would need a inline converter in order to hook up the subs but is there anything else I need to lookout for? Also, does my car have an amplifier apart from the HU? If so, do I need to do anything with this for any reason. It may look ridiculous but what the hell?

Yeah it's a 600 watt amp and and 850 watt amp wiring kit. Also, do you know where the factory amp is in my car? I've looked all over the place on the internet, and in my car and I can't find it.

Your post doesn't specify which car you have... most cars don't come with factory amplifiers, unless you have an audio package.
