Finally decided to upgrade my stock radio/cassette player in my 3.5 gen camry. Looking for a unit, which can:
1) Play MP3/WMA from DVD, not only CD
2) Has AUX line-in connector
3) Not sure, if this is possible: has USB port for USB drive to play MP3 from, and to use as charger
4) Not very expensive
Personally I would not skimp on the Head Unit that would the only component that I would go full price on.
But if you are going to go in the 50-200 range ebay is going to be the only place you will find a deal.
For example, what do you, guys, think about Lanzar: http://www.buy.com/prod/lanzar-svd59...208033745.html
This unit is sold for 80+ on amazon. Has everything what I need. What is about Lanzar brand? Never heard about it before.....
And one more question: it says this unit has "pre-amplified output". Is it ok for the stock 96 camry audio system? Or, will I need an amplifier?
I like Pioneer Premier HUs. Maybe just personal preferance, but they are proven quality. Like others have pointed out Id stay away from Lanzar. Ive had bad experiences with top of the line Eclipse units. Not only do Pioneer premier units have all the stuff you want, they also have many options like equalizers superior to some of the other units out there. Alpine Pioneer maybe some Kenwoods. Those would be my first choices. Although personally I think some of the Alpines are hideus looking. Good luck hope this helps.
If Eclipse is pulling out of the US market then Ill keep my eye on one of these (AVN726E) and possible pick one up if the price really comes down. Seems like a decent HU.
I would recommend the Alpine CDA-105, bestbuy sells it for $199, you could probably find it for cheaper online. I currently have it installed in my car for the past few months and never had a glitch.
