U.S. satt radio working in Europe?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but does anyone happen to know whether U.S. satellite radio receivers work/pick up channels in Europe? I must confess that I'm not a rocket scientist, or I guess I'd know

We're moving to Slovenia later this year, and taking our '08 HHy with us. Among the upgrades I'm looking at before then, however, is having either the Sirius or XM (which would seem to be the smarter bet as the signals are "more" space rather than ground relay based?) receiver installed.

I've got the SAT ready NAV/JBL system (or so I understand it to be - has the SAT button on there now along with FM buttons) in the car now. While I'm sure we'd enjoy the satt channels the next few months, would be great to know you can also catch the same signals overseas when those sats are overhead (?). Bueller? Thanks, Martin

I'm going to move this thread over to the Audio, Video, and Security Tech forum so the folks there can help you with an answer.

As far as Sirius/XM satellite, I'm not 100% certain but I don't think there's coverage in Europe for that since the satellites are in geosynchronous orbit and the terrestrial footprint for their transmitters do not extend to Europe. If memory serves there are a couple of Ka or Ku band radio systems set up in Europe that offer a similar service. You might try a Google search to find out more about which systems the Europeans use.
