I need a new amp, any suggestions

Just to start off i no my amp is crap so dont diss it, just help me choose a better one

I have a 600 watt Legacy amp 2 channel. Doesnt do my Rockford Subs 10" and justice. Sounds really bad, i go in my freinds car he has one and the thing hits harder than my two.

I have two 10" subs max 400 watts max

what would be a more suitable amp, to get some power and make them sound better

I was thinking of getting a rockford amp, or clarion
any suggestions for my application

I need a model number off that amp or the sub. I think I know what amp you have but I want to make sure. Can you get a model number for me? Rockford makes two low end 10" subs in either 4 ohm or 8ohm configurations. You can't tell which is which by looking at the cone.

Did you install this yourself?

And upgrading your amp probably won't be enough to hit harder than your friend. Do you know what setup he has?

If all you're doing is an amp swap you should have no problems. Anyone who can change a lightbulb can figure that out. Did you pay for that install work?

I'm looking up the info now...

How much you looking to spend?

The RFZ3410 is a 4ohm woofer and the RFZ3810 is an 8 ohm woofer. You have one or the other not both. The amp may have the model number written on it somewhere.

One isn' t better than the other. They're the same price and will sound the same when powered correctly. Rockford makes them in two models.

If you have two 8ohm woofers then most likely you have an amp that is bridged at 4ohm to run them and that's how we would want to run them again so you can reinstall easily. This is what I think they most likely did.. but I'm not too familiar with the legacy line and if they have changed their amps year. We really need to know which model amp or subs you have before I anyone can help you. I don't want to guess as to what you have.

I think this is your amp, but I'm not sure...

If the LA470 is your amp then it's wired bridged at 4ohms and you have the 8 ohm speakers. You need to find another amp that can be bridged to produce roughly 400 RMS. How much are you looking to spend?

I know Rockford(if you want to keep it all the same) sells a 400 watt bridgable amp I think the 401S for about $175. I'll check into some other brands and see what I can find.
