Corolla XRS Subwoofer upgrade help

I was looking on upgrading the sound system, nothing crazy at first. will start with just adding a sub-woofer and its amp of course.

The Car is a 2010 Corolla XRS with a Stock HU (6 CD tray) with the stock 6 Speakers

What I wanted to put in was a Alpine Type-R 10" powered by a Rockford T1000-DB Amp (to be used for bigger stuff in the future).
My concern is if I use a HI-to-Low converter will I loose some sound in the 20-80hz range (if so how much?) from the stock stereo equalization as I understand some stock stereos do this to protect the stock speakers.

Thanks.

Even-though the OEM head-unit does attenuate the lower end at higher volumes, the addition of the sub/amp will definitely improve the overall sound.

you won't lose the 20-80hz setting if you set your frequencies right on the amp. You should start at the 80hz range, then either go up or down to your liking. Most people don't venture past the 90hz because anything higher is midbass which is usually handled by the speakers or if you had a multi channel amp to handle the high and midbass frequencies
