Right now I have two Image Dynamics IDQ10" subs. Im thinking about getting new/louder subs because my back seat is just killing the bass.
Would one 15" sub be louder than two 10" subs? If you do the math, the 15" sub has a greater surface area over the two 10's. I dont know if that makes a big difference.
Also, what 15" subs would you recommend ($200 or less)???
I'm not a fan of 15" subs. A good cheap 15" even though people might bash it on here is the Audiobahn Alum series. The reason I say this is because most 15" subs sound horrible. That sub is fairly cheap ($200) for a 15" and has decent sound quality at the same time.
Adire audio makes the Tempest which is a basically a 15" shiva I think which is in your price range. But I don't think you can touch anything from RE or ED for under $200.
So are you saying that two 10's will sound better, but the 15's will be louder? I'm not much of a big fan of 15's myself, but sometimes i think that bass is bass. Discrepencies in sound doesnt affect the music nearly as much as mids and highs.
I like the image dynamics but cant afford to buy two 10's or one 15.
Two 10's will generally always sound better than a 15. And which one will be louder depends on what you upgrade to and how you enclose/power it. There are some 15" subs out there that your two 10's would beat in SPL and there are some 15"s out there that would crush it. That Audiobahn 15" sound be louder if you put it in the proper enclosure and send it the right amount of power. It will get deeper than your 10s could ever dream of getting but you might hear it "miss" the music. That's a problem a lot of 15's have. To find an accurant 15" under $200 and to hit hard is asking for a lot. I think that Alum Audiobahn series might be your best bet or the Tempest (which won't be as loud as the Audiobahn.. it will be more accurate though).
only cheap 15's or 15's geared towards spl will sound bad. i have a resonant engineering 12" hc im trying to sell if youre interested. its right in your price range too.
Is resonant engineering a new company? I only heard of it today when i checked out the webpage. It looks nice, but it doesnt say anything about the specs or anything. Do you have all the specs available? Like recommended box sizes, sensitivity, linear excursion, rms power handling, etc.....and where do you get those subs from anyways?
no they have been around for awhile now. if you go to the tech section on their site it gives box sizes and ts parameters. if you dont have a dealer 100 miles from you, you can order direct from their site.
i got an alum 15 in my cam and the thing is awesome, i have it on an audiobahn 1300 rms amp, but i only have the one woofer in 2ohms so it is only getting 800 rms, when i get the second one then i'll put them in 1ohm....But yeah, if ur looking for better bass, one of these hooked up to a nice amp can do it for you, i am only getting two because someone wants to challenge me...If ur interested i know someone that can get these for 180, i think it includes shipping, not sure...I'll post pics of my system later...
I'm glad you tried and liked the Audiobahn Alum series. They get a lot of crap because of the Audiobahn name which is known to hit hard and sound terrible doing it. The Alum series is actually a decent SQ performer at a reasonable price.
you guys are some serious players....I only got 450 rms running to my subs. I think 450 watts is enough to make a sub hit pretty hard. I am just trying to balance my power constraints with the number of speakers, size speakers, brand and price.
Maybe i'll go listen to the audiobahn subs at circuit city or best buy or somewhere.
