Installing new speakers in 97 Camry

I have a 97 Camry which I am installing new speakers in and I ran into a slight problem when trying to install the rear speakers. I have to remove the rear seat which doesn't seem to want to come out. I've been working on it for a few hours and can't figure out how to get it out. I was wondering if there was an easy secret or some method I don't know about. Yes, I do have the Haynes which isn't helping at all. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Then how do you get the rear package shelf off? I mean I still need to know how to remove the seat to install my amp, but if I can get the package shelf off now that would be cool.

assuming you've removed the 3rd brake light, plastic trim aswell as the side bolsters, the rear deck/shelf is just held in place with clips.
