Hey ppl,
I am having troubles with my (stock - i think) alarm on my 97 Camry...When i activate the alarm with the remote, the little red light blinks (on the left hand side of the stearing) and IF i unlock the car with a key the alarm goes off (have to put key in ignition to stop it). How do i fix that? My second remote does not seem to respond even after i re-program it. Do i have to program both remotes at the same time? How can i turn the sound off...just have the unlock/lock option? Do i have a "trunk opener" too? What is the "other" button for?
Thanks a lot :]

Ahh the pita that is the stock alarm.
The rs3000 isn't enough info I think. The remotes come with a certain fcc id# that needs to match up with your car...how exactly you figure out which fcc id# is yours is still beyond me. The dealer won't/can't tell me, and I haven't figured it out. If anyone figures this out please let us know.
And remember your programing your car to accept the remote not the other way around.
japple: try turning your key twice when unlocking the driver door. My alarm will go off if only turned once, but not twice. I think somethings f'd, but again, I havn't figured it out yet.
check out keylessride.com just nęd vin# and such....

I'm confused. Are you using the remote to disarm the vehicle before you enter? Otherwise, if you're just entering the car while armed with the key, it's supposed to trip the alram. That's normal.

Who re-prgm'd the second remote? It doesn't snd like they did it.
^LOL yes I do see that; I purchased one off ebay to try, but it hasn't worked yet.
I'm trying to figure out which fcc# for my car as no remotes came with it off the used lot. Then I can ask for the correct remote.
Phi,
I guess you may be right, that if i unlock the door w/ the key and the alarm is armed w/ the remote it will trigger it...and I reprogrammed it (reset button on the alarm computer and "Arm" button on the remote) the way they told me to (a friend from Toyota). Now i don't have to worry bout that, cause my mom lost my working remote, and my sister broke the other ....women!!!
