I have a new 200 Watt Cd deck. I want to know some good speakers to get. I know the factory sound system in my aunt's 2002 Altima is phenomenal. How many watts are the speakers in my gen3 and what company should I use? I know I am definetely not going on ebay. The speakers were supposedly 600 watts max but were worse than my factory speakers. How many watts should I go with?

k...hate to be the guy to say this...but there is an audio/video forum...this should be moved...to answer your question....the head unit is not 200 watt per speaker....so dont get your hopes up....it sends a total of 200 watts to four speakers...each recieving 50 watts....it doesnt matter what wattage the speakers you are going to get have....unless u have an amp for the speakers YOU WILL NEVER USE THE FULL MAX WATTAGE....my friend has eclipse speakers that r almost as good as mine but cheaper...i have pioneers but they run a little pricey..like 80 for a pair....i would go with either pioneer of eclipse

Thanks everbody. I know better than to post this here in the camry forum. I am at work and was rushing to put it somewhere.
Come on now p31 I know there's not 200 watts going to each speaker. I know I am going to have to spend a good amount of cash. I don't know why but out of the three camrys that I have had, the speakers in this one sound the worst. Thanks again guys.
Bose is crap and costs too much. Pioneer speakers should only be used for a low level install. Their low level speakers are good for the money. Once you start paying $100 for a pair of speakers you should forget Pioneer even exists. Sony Xplod is some of the most unreliable car audio sold in stores, even their more expensive equipment.
Are you planning to amp your speakers? What head unit did you get? Are you thinking of a sub? How much are you planning to spend on speakers and or amp?
Bose is reliable, but very expensive. You can do infinately better as far as sound quality for the price. But, you can't buy aftermarket Bose for your car regardless. The price they charge you for the upgraded Bose system on most cars that give the option costs twice as much for the same sound quality you could get with aftermarket parts. This rule goes for home theatre equipment as well.
Pioneer lacks clarity in their higher end speakers. You can do infinately better for the same price. A set of $100 Alpine speakers will be better than a set of $100 Pioneer. And Alpine speakers are nothing to rave about. Pioneer's idea of making a speaker sound better is to add another tweeter. And another.. and another.. and another... This only hurts SQ.
Sony Xplod is a new division of Sony car audio. Their Mobile ES line was excellent, but and they charged out the ass for it. People stopped buying it for this reason and now they have the Xplod line which is marketed on their looks and not their quality. Thus keeping costs down and making it a ricer's haven since it looks cool. If you want something that's all show go with Xplod products. Pioneer outmatches Sony in all categories of car audio dollar for dollar.
Lots and Lots of info. Thanx. But who do I go with. Pioneer sounds the best so far. I don't like Xplod anyways. Yes I am going to need to amp the speakers. Lets not talk about my head unit.

Eclipse makes great equipment. They don't allow their stuff to be sold online so don't bother looking for prices. If you find a place that sells it be wary of their business practices.
Eclipse is best known for their great headunits, but they also make other equipment just as well.
Right now I have $200 but I know that will just cover the speakers. I want front and rear. I'll have to get an amp later. Once I get an amp I will be getting subs too so I want to wait on that.
I've heard the infinity reference components and they sound really good. You can get them on ebay for about $110. Kenwood components are also another cheap set of components that sound exceptional for the price.
If you look hard enough online, you can probably find deals on low end MB Quart and Diamond Audio components.
6x9 speakers are usually cheaper than components.
Your best bet in my opinion would be to go on ebay and pick up an infinity reference component and 6x9 set for about 200 bucks
