I understand that you want a red and black theme to your car. My theme is similar, but you shouldn't make it determine your sound. Like the visionik subs, sounds pretty cool but the kenwoods are around the same range but i know the kenwood plays a clean bass. I mean if your car is going to be red and black why don't you get all black grills. I mean I dont want to sound rude or nothin, just sayin if your not tryin to get premium sound then your setup is fine. But if you are some changes got to be made.

please dont take offense.
JUst want to help. ONe

so what kind of sound are you looking for. A full sound, clean sound or just straight up loud. cause really that determines the speakers you buy. let me know i got some good picks.

OK. now how much you willin to spend. Average start up 800-1200 bucks. Once you give me your spending range i can give you options. Also do you want heavy bass.

I would say maybe pioneer, alpine, polk or kicker would be good componet systems for you. you can use the same amp for the componet. The reciever is all on you. As for the subs maybe a 1000 watt amp pushing maybe 2 12" kenwoods excelons or polk momo. For the sound you want a sealed box is good. I don't really like the bandpass box becouse i think it defeats the whole purpose of the subwoofer.

lots of distortion

GET these speakers: http://www.thezeb.com/detail.aspx?ID=1083

rear speakers: dont really know since I'm not gonna have any, but ideally just something that plays low since its just rear fill

go for clarion(has color changing headunits)/alpine/eclipse for a
headunit: shop around online some sites are thezeb.com, ikesound.com...

maybe check here for amps: http://www.avionixxusa.com/ep/products.htm

subs: edesignaudio.com, adireaudio.com, respl.com

wiring kits: knukonceptz.com

enclosure: sealed sounds the best so just get a sealed box... pick one up from a local audio shop because shipping rapes you if you buy online

the point of a ported box is to make the air travel and to be forced out. The harder it is for the air to escape or get forced out the deeper the bass will sound. A bandpass box the air goes no where but straight out. It doesn't get to move around. the bass ends up punchy and flat.

get a alpine deck. even a cheap alpine deck would be better than the more expensive sony decks. For the same price as the visonic subs, you can probably get something like rockford punch or mtx 4500 series subs for around the same price. I like the infinity component ideas as fronts, but you may as well get the matching rear speakers. The 500 watt amp should be enough to push the lower end rockford or mtx subs.

Have you heard these speakers? If so what would you compare them to? I've never heard them, but I've heard good things about them. I also hear good things online about Bostons and other brands which I think sound horrible.

As for Birdman:
Don't go with an Xplod head unit. I know it matches your color scheme and they look pretty. Sony makes great home theatre equipment, but they make crap car audio. Try to stay away from their stuff. In your price range I'd go with Clarion, Alpine or Pioneer. I listed them in terms of best quality down. They all make reliable head units, but you'll get more bang for your buck out of the Pioneer and Alpine brands. This means possibly more tuning options which will help your overall sound quality.

Speakers are a personal preference kind of thing. Infinity makes high pitched speakers. If you listen to a lot of rap and r&b you may not like them. They'll sound clear and sharp but they won't be able to produce the mids you may be looking for. I'd recommend going to all of your local audio shops and listening to speakers and choosing the ones that sound best to you. For $800-900 you'll be hardpressed to find a component set and amp them as well if you're going with a sub. Therefore I'd stay away from components since they really need to be amped or there's no point in getting them.

As far as subs go, instead of going with two 12" Visioniks you'd probably be happier with one clean quality 12" sub or two 10"s of better quality. Keep browsing and let us know what you like.

Will you be doing the install yourself or do you have to pay for that out of the $800-900?
