Let's say I have two kicker 12" subwoofers lying around. I have no wires, no nothing. Now let's say I want to hook these up in a box (1 box) and power them with an amp. I know absolutely about this, so what type of amp should I buy? And please give me any extra information. Also, I have a Panasonic CQ-5310U head unit, if that matters.
It depends on the speakers. Give us the model numbers and we can let you know.
Basically there's a few things you need to know. First is the RMS rating of the each sub. The second is the impedance of each sub. Then you need to know a little bit about electricity.
If each sub is say 2 ohm you can wire them up together into 4ohm or 1ohm if you so choose. Or you can get a 2 channel -2ohm amp. If the impedence sub isn't given but the voice coils are you can use the same arithmetic as before to figure it out. One 2 ohm voice coil is a 2 ohm speaker. Dual 2 ohm voice coils is a 1ohm or 4ohm speaker depending on how you wire it.
You then purchase an amp that can send them adequate power at their impedance level.
Next step is to buy an amp kit. Your amp will tell you what type of power wire you need. The bigger the wire (higher the guage the better). Wire is wire so just get something that won't fall apart on you when you're trying to connect everything up and something that won't be a bitch to run across your car.
Next step is to make a box. Specs for enclosures will be on the sub manufacturer's website.
Next step is to put it all together. Wiring diagrams will be on your sub/amp manufacturer's website or enclosed in either package.
I have a feeling it might be an L7. I believe that is 750 rms. If it is they have pre-made boxes for them. But like JaJay said look on the magnet of the speaker it has to say the rms wattage or model number. I think it's the law or somthing.

You're definately right, I dunno what the hell I was thinkin when I wrote that. Good catch man.
I went ahead and took the liberty of cheking some the circular shaped kicker subs. The rms in these subs range from 150-400. peak at 300-800. What you have to find out is the sub you have is a Kicker Comp or a Kicker CompVR. Once i get that info it will be easier to get an amp. Take a look at www.sounddomain.com and take a look at the subs. The picture are on there. You can then tell everybody what your looks like and then we can talk business.
