help me get my 6 cd's unjammed please

I have the in-dash 6 cd changer. I just loaded the changer with 6 brand new cd's, and the changer jammed, giving me the code "err3". The dealer says he'll send the changer out and get a price to retrieve my cd's and fix the unit. FORGET THAT! Is there anyone who can guide me through the process of extracting my cd's without damaging them???? I decided to replace the entire head deck with an aftermarket unit, BUT I WANT MY CD's BACK. PLEASE HELP, and I thank you. Cheers, Dave

Yea I hear that. I've had old head units eat cd's before and they aren't the easiest things to dismantle either. I ended up unscrewing what I could, but had to break some stuff. Just be careful.

You really shouldn't have to break anything. If you look carefully you will see the screws to get to the internal area. You are gonna need a real set of screw drivers and maybe alan keys. Let's be serious if you can take a computer apart wit a screw driver that you can easily take cd player. Just some patience.

I had same err3 code on my wife's 2000 landcruiser w/indash cd changer. One of the posts on this site had a guy that banged on the dash above changer right when you turn cd player on and the changer is making the "whirring" sound. I just tried it 10 minutes ago and it worked! Saved me $1300 from buying another unit from dealer (which I wasn't going to do). Unit now plays and I got all my cd's out. Give it try.
