I recently had to replace my 10+ yr old boston accoustic 6X9s due to the surround blowing out, so i picked up some pioneer 3 ways at wally world. The question i have is for the polarity of the rear wires. The original wire snipped from the stock speakers is red and red w/ black on the left and red and black on the right (if i can remember right) and im not sure which is positive or negative on each side. I checked the wire chart in the audio section but it only lists the wire colors coming from the deck and not the colors running to the speaker (after the connector mounted on the rear deck).
the wiring of the positive and negatives in the wires dont matter i replaced my STOCK 6x9s for sum pioneer 3 ways TS's and i tryed them both ways and it donsn't matter AT ALL no matter what u do
im pretty sure the red with a black (a black line right?) is negative and the black on the right side is the negative one also...lemme check my car tommorow
The positive and negative wires DO MATTER, ever heard of out-of-phase and in-phase? How can you check the polarity of an AC signal with a voltmeter? Please do some research before spewing out misinformation.
Originally posted by CamryMax Does it really matter? I remember installing my speakers, also 3 way, and I don't remember having that problem lol
EDIT: actuall never mind, I think I had same colored wires. You can always check the poles with voltmeter.
yeh....jus check the poles....i forget when me and my dad installed them how we wired them...id check it out for u but im too lazy to take apart my back dash...sorry

that's still stupid cause then they can cancel out the front speakers.

I'll refrain from replying to the "stupid" comment too harshly...Perhaps your reply finger was a little ahead of your thinking, so I'll repeat that more slowly for you: Pick......the..........better..........sounding... ......way. Far faster to swap 4 plugs and take a listen than to remove the dash and hunt wires in most cases. Cancellation is pretty obvious when you hear it compared to correct phase. The whole works, front and rear, being completely out of phase is not, but since it sounds fine, nobody cares except those who tune stereos by an oscillioscope or a DB meter.
