toyota oem 3cd chagne help E02

Hi guys,

I just need some help here. I have a toyota avalon 1996 with the 3cd changer feature, the double din unit. Anyways, only after having the car for 2 f'in days, my boys broke the damn thing. The cd changer now says E02. The cd spins around and around for abut 10 seconds, then the e02 appears. I've read somewhere, that it maybe cause it doesn't read CD-Rs?? Also after the E02 appears, the cd won't come out...damn.... So any suggestions? Thanks!

I think E02 means it can not read the cd at all. It may not always be CD-r it could be the cd is upside down Not to say thats your case. But this is kinda interesting so I'm gonna look in to it.

Please dont double post.

Most disc players have a manual eject switch just inside the slot on one or the other side that you can trigger with a paper clip or something.

Ok my friend, i checked and checked and checked...........? All I found out is that the name brand is delco. I don't know if you knew or not. And it seems to be a common problem with that cd player. There are various companies willing to repair it but the are talking 150-200 bucks. You can can get the dealership to fix but it will probably cost more.
If you really like it get it fixed or you can take that one out remove the cd's by opening it and installing a new one. Money wise I think replacing it is a good solution. I know it's heartbreaking that you just bought the car but getting a new reciever will be worth ur wild. Your speakers will sound better too.

Sorry man.

No, that 3-disc changer is NOT made by Delco. The only ever manufacturer for that type of changer mechanism is Alpine. Unfortunately, there were many problems with it, render it completely useless if it gets jammed. Since your '96 headunit doesn't have built-in CD changer controls, you can 1) replace it with a pre-'97 DIN CD player that has its own controls, or 2) completely get a new headunit, which will require some splicing into the OEM amp.

I guess. I was just checking through websites and model number. I mean I'm not saying your wrong but how come delco would say that make the reciver and cd player. But for the Avalon. But what ever company made it there is for sure an ongoing problem with it. Personnally I would change the headunit. I hate to fix something that has a possibilty of breaking again. It is the most hurtful thing in the world.

All Toyota pre-'97 radio were made by Fujitsu Ten (Eclipse), likewise for CD player, with the exception of the 3-CD changer. All '98-up were either: Delco, Matsushita, or Fujitsu Ten (rare), that's when they all have CD controls on the headunit. AFAIK, all Lexus starting with the '92 ES300 had built-in controls and you couldn't easily just add something aftermarket as companies like Blitzsafe, PIE, or Peripheral weren't really big yet.
