Bandpass can go alot lower in frequency, heavier bass, Sealed is a tighter bass, but on in a higher bass frequency, doesn't go as low as a bandpass. I had a bandpass and I traded it for a Sealed, and I like the sealed better.

heyman i think what everyone is trying to say is that in the sealed enclosure you get a lot crisper bass so in some ways it seems stronger cuz a short strong hit of bass is stronger than an extended not as intense bass sound. Now in the bandpass you're gonna get lower tones, so your bass will sound deepr and to soem poeple that sounds liek ti hits harder cuz its hittin gnotes tht the sealed eclosure can't hit. Both will get the job done, its really about what you would rather have.

Not really..

Sealed enclosures are generally smaller. The sound will not be as loud or hit as hard. There will be a great noticible difference in how less loud and how hard it won't hit, however, there will also be a noticible difference in sound quality.

A bandpass enclosure is larger because it is using the air inside the enclosure to get louder. Unfortunately this means you'll lose some sound quality for loudness. Depending on the subs they may hit "sloppy" in an inproper bandpass. They won't sound as deep, but they will hit harder.

Different subs are designed to performed better in different enclosures. Bandpass is generally considered crap among the car audio world because a bandpass box is engineered toward pure loudness and not sound quality. A ported box is the happy medium. Check out your sub on the manufacturer's website and see the spec's of the ideal enclosure for it.

Right sealed enclosures are smaller and not as loud but alot of times the cripsness of the bass makes it seem louder/stronger that it really is, from the systems that i've come across. But for the max power and sound bandpass is it.

Bandpass is horrible. You get all the size and weight for bass that sounds hollow and distorted. Go sealed or ported. Thing is, you cant go cheap if you go sealed or ported b/c you need a powerful setup to hit hard. I would rather go with quality and power than anything else. Two 12's Solo Baric L7's in a vented box with a 1501bd Rockford will do the trick...

Rockford amps tend to run a little warm. Their new 2004 line is supposed to be an improvement. They're coming out with 168 new peices (I think) this year and they're supposed to be improved in quality. We'll see I guess...

Bandpass is the worse. If you want heavy bass you need a ported box. But there is a trick to it. The air has to move. If the air doesn't move enough before leaving through the port it will flatten. Bandpass is for the person who likes a flatter kind of bass.

Bandpass=crap (unless all you want to do is show off to your buddies and don't mind how shitty your stuff sounds doing it)

Personally, I'm an SQ nut and my pair of Alpine Type R's are perfect in a sealed enclosure.
