what is everyone opinion on the hardest hitting DVC with the propper setup?
in my opinion, my friend jus bought a Cerwin Vega 12d4 400watts rms and it sounds real good...and its powered by a memphis 500watt mono amp... it sounded louder than L7 solo baric 12'....we actually did a side by side test
Also, is it pronounced Kerwhen Wayga, Sirwin Vega?
last thing , anybody ever hear of boston Acoustiks? my friend was telling me some subs that was 2k rms, and it had its own fuse, actually two of them?
I had vegas before to. The L7 are for different kind peson. Don't get me wrong The L7 are pretty good but they are more powerful subs. I'm not gonna say that your test wasn't any good, the amp you had may not been enough to push the L7. But I can bet if you did you would notice the vega plays a cleaner bass. Audiobahn have subs over 2500rms. I got 1500rms and that's too damn much. 2500 you can't sit in the car. Be prepared to even think about 2000 watts rms. It's a whole different kind of headache.
The CVs will get stomped by an L7 in the proper enclosure. If you're looking for power the Crossfire BMF and XT line do the trick nicely. The H2 has some power behind it as well. The Orion line is being revamped and good things are being expected. And you can't forget about the W7.
But, I think the strongest sub on the ready market is the Audiobahn AWT34X. It's a 34" sub with a 650oz magnet that takes over 5000RMS. The sub itself will run you 5 grand and powering it will be costly and no easy task as well.

i have never heard them personally, cuz they are so freaking expensive, but have you guys ever heard the MTX RFL sub? Those things are massive and i bet they could pound the shit outta most in an SPL contest

Yeah there are a lot of good subs out there. I think now it's harder than ever to choose a sub. You can be influenced so easily. But you really got to pay attention to detail. Some subs will sound awsome at a medium volume level but as soon as you decide to crank it up there is distortion, or loss in the depth in the bass. This is a debate that could go on forever. But I think Audiobahn has one the hardest hittin right now.

Audiobahn does well especially when you consider the price. People on the internet don't like it because it has chrome and it's "ricey". Audiobahn makes some low end equipment and they make some decent stuff. I know people who diss Audiobahn amps regularly and then run a HiFonics amp and think it's infinately better because someone online said it was good.
I guess this is just an Audiobahn rant. It's nice to see someone give credit where credit is due. Their new 2004 line is greatly improved and they can make some quality products. I'm friends with the owners of a local shop in town and they run a complete Audiobahn competition car. Audiobahn Q components and 4 12" Audiobahn Alum subs in a Denali. And of all the Audiobahn Alum subs they've sold, they've never had anyone bring one back broken. Even theirs which they sometimes compete and abuse them for competition (running them full volume with only 200 RMS each instead of their rated 1000RMS). And if anything does go wrong with the equipment they have on-site replacement. Great warranty and service.
yeah blew mine recently showing off too my little brother But i think cause it was in a sealed box.(temperary) I mean there are a lot of good subs I like the JL audio's W7. Great sub but they have a reputation of drawing too much current. So that can be concluded that they are not efficient. But it's all in taste what you want to hear. For me there is more than how "hard" it can hit when i choose a sub. Sound quality comes first then loudness. The worse thing you want is sloppy loud bass.
so nobody ever heard of boston acoustiks? i guess it is relatively new...
i've always like audiobahns stuff, actually i was telling my friend to get the Qflame series instead of the CW...but one thing ive actually noticed is the true rms... u can have all the rms listed on ur sub, but most of the time its not true...the CW was 400rms, and it was hitting like an L7, and the L7 is around 900-1000rms, im not sure...but u get my point right?
what i wanted to ask was, the best cost effective sub u can buy...how much are the msrp of the L7's, aroudn 400$, compared to cw 150$...
You know I love audiobahn but never heard that cw series. Couldn't even tell you. But like Kenwood excelon on a SQ level for cost efficiency, and audiobahn flame q for Spl.

CW isn't audiobahn, I mistyped CV fpr Cerwin Vega.

if there was one single hardest hitting sub then we wouldnt have spl competitions. any speaker can get loud. it is completely dependent on the install.
