From what you posted about the amp, I would wire it up for 1ohm. That would give you the most power.

Wire the coils on each sub in parallel, then parallel the 2 subs together. This will give you 1ohm.

Dual 4 ohm subs mean that when you hook it up, its going to be either 8 or 2 ohms. You have two of these subs, so the it will net a 4 ohm load. Since a mono block amp is most efficient at 2 ohms (since that amp isnt 1-ohm stable) a mono block amp wouldnt be as good of a choice as a two channel amp.

What?

He has a PA mono-amp capable of 1-ohm, and you're saying that a 2-ch amp is better? You're asking a 2-ch amp to run at 0.5-ohm stereo? I don't think even the old school Orion 225 HCCA can run that load.

The diagram 88 LE shows will work to get a 1ohm load. Dual 4 ohm voice coils means each sub is 2 ohm. Two 2 ohm speakers = 1 ohm or 4 ohm. And his amp is a Class D Planet Audio amp capable of 1ohm.

Yeah, that JaJay said is right, if you have dual 4ohm subs... parrallel to 2 and 2... then parralel to 1 and 1

at first i thought what you said was goofy, but it is just what i was thinking

I know I'm correct about the subs working perfectly fine with a 2-channel amp, so i dont know what Luc is talking about. And I did not know that the PA amp is 1-ohm stable. I even looked the amp up online and it does not say anywhere that it's stable at one ohm. It WOULD work perfectly fine at 1-ohm, but it sounds kinda sketchy to whether or not the amp can handle the load.

Thats only true for one sub.

Depends how you hook it up.

To get 4 ohms you would have to wire the coils on each sub in series, then parallel them together.

Edit: You can also wire the coils on each sub in parallel, then series them together. This will also give you 4 ohms.

Why is it that no one understands ohms law?

You would rather use a 2-channel Class A/B amplifier getting about 50% efficiency in a bridged configuration rather than a 1-channel Class D amplifier getting about 85% efficiency?
