Crossovers & 3+ Way Speakers

So as i was reading up on crossovers and alot of the links in the audio sticky I started thinking about what i wanted for my setup. I want to use Pioneer 6.5" 4ways in the front and pioneer 5-way 6x9s in the rear, and then 2 10s in the trunk. I was planning on running a 3-way crossover but then i started to think that if i was running a 3-way crossover then whats the point of haveing 5-way or 4-way speakers? Would it be correct to assume that if running a 3-way crossover it would be best to not go with 4-way and 5-way speakers?
My thinking is that if in my crossover setup the fronts are for just the higer range then most likey the large cone would rarely be used. Then if i set the rear 6x9s to the mid frequencies then the supertweeters included in teh 5-ways would be pointless to have. Am i thinking correctly or am i all wrong?

err the best way to run crossovers is with components...

but for your set up since I dont think you want to change everything out, just use the built in crossover on your amp (you are amping those speaks right?)
