i have the 4-ways....they sound really nice...good bass when u can put em under a nice head unit....i have those 4-ways in my rear and 3way pioneers in the front all hooked to an alpine head...if theyre cheap get em...i paid like 80$ for my pair...do what u want...of course..my friend has eclipse which are very close to the quality as mine and are cheaper...jus my .02$

that's true a lot of frequencies. But now that i have heard the pioneer balance and i must say it sounds really good. A decent EQ would take care of it. The bass is alright but if you got subs your speakers would need to focus on mids to highs. I didn't hear the 4 way but pioneer is consistant so i am pretty sure it's good.
Why manufacturers make 4- and 5-way speakers, I'll never understand, 3-ways, I can accept, but still not needed. I can only come to the conclusion that the more high pass filters they add in line, the lower the quality of the speakers/drivers results, since there's no need to cover a larger frequency spread. It's like having Klipschorns screaming at your ears.
i have 4 ways both in front and back. They sound awesome. I love them. I'd say go with the 4ways cause you'll hear everything from highs, low, mids. It's very crisp and clean.
