Any audio guys will tell you, even 3-way speakers are pointless especially for 6x9s.

2-way 6x9s are more than enough.

I wasn't talking about price.

They're not any better than 2 or 3 ways, more doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

that's true a lot of frequencies. But now that i have heard the pioneer balance and i must say it sounds really good. A decent EQ would take care of it. The bass is alright but if you got subs your speakers would need to focus on mids to highs. I didn't hear the 4 way but pioneer is consistant so i am pretty sure it's good.

All you need are 2 ways at max...ekam has it right. 3 tweeters at the rear is overkill...

Why manufacturers make 4- and 5-way speakers, I'll never understand, 3-ways, I can accept, but still not needed. I can only come to the conclusion that the more high pass filters they add in line, the lower the quality of the speakers/drivers results, since there's no need to cover a larger frequency spread. It's like having Klipschorns screaming at your ears.

i have 4 ways both in front and back. They sound awesome. I love them. I'd say go with the 4ways cause you'll hear everything from highs, low, mids. It's very crisp and clean.
