Yeesh, going nuts trying to find speakers that fit

I've been *trying* to upgrade my cars (95 Camry LE) audio system, but it's been such a pain in the ass. The deck and fronts were easy enough, but I am running in to big problems with the rears.

I know they are 6 x 9, but the problem is the top mount depth. I have tried 2 different speakers, and neither fit. Besides the hole being slightly too small, they also both hit the trunks spring bar that runs across the back. The first set were the mtaching pair to my front speakers, the Infinity Kappa 692.5is. The second set were the Polk Momos, and they had the same problem.

What the heck should I do? I would like some quality speakers in the rear, but it seems most of the good ones won't fit without work I can't do myself. I don't mind perm mods, just as long as they aren't visible. Of course, all of the big places I went to wouldn't do the work, so it looks like I'm out of luck unless I go to one of the smaller places, which I am not too keen on doing.

Hey its me the guy whos been talking to you on aim. I think there was a thread a while back on speakers that fit without having to cut... I'd search but I'm lazy (and on 56k now). I've given him suggestions like maybe try 6.5" midbass... does anyone know of any 6x9" to 6.5" adapters?

Same thing happened to me when I went to change the rear speakers. What I had to do was take a wrench and bend the hole surrounding a little bit so that they would fit.

i had that same problem....it frustrated the shit out of me. I even tried grinding the hole bigger, but the bumps of the metal part in the rear deck screws everything up. I think what you probably could do is make your own wooden board to mount your rears on. Screw or glue a strong dense piece of wood on the rear deck and mount your speakers on that. You may have to make some modifications to the rear deck cover. Its just an idea. I never bothered to do it myself though.
