Which speakers are best for Toyota Pickup??

I have a '93 Toy pickup and would like to install new front speakers in the doors. Right now the truck has the stock speakers. I am not looking for anything too fancy, I don't listen to anything with too much bass, mainly rock music, and I am just looking for speakers that sound good and can handle a decent volume. My stereo is a Panasonic tape deck. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which speakers would be best.
I may install a small kicker or something behind the seat for a little more bass, but just in case I don't, I want speakers that will give me an all-around good sound; treble and bass.
Also, any suggestions on a kicker/subwoofer/speaker tube and where to buy any of this.
I am a rookie when it comes to stereo.
Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Mark

How old is your head unit? It may not have any RCA preouts and therefore a sub would be a little more work/cost a little more cash. Do you know how many watts the unit puts out per channel?

My head unit is pretty beat. It is a Pioneer tape deck that is about 2-3 yrs. old. It puts out 40 watts/speaker. I am going to upgrade to a Pioneer cd soon, but that will most likely be 40-50 watts/speaker as well.
Any thoughts about the 4" KICKER speakers?

Definitely get a better/newer headunit to run new speakers. The 4" Kickers are fine, heck, even their 3.5"s are good too. Just don't expect any miracles for (mid)bass.

Rock music has a lot of bass in it.

What size are the stock speakers in the doors? Are they co-axial or component?

Are you looking to replace your stock speakers or are you willing to custom install a set of speakers in your doors?

There's no one speaker that will supply you with good treble and good bass. The law of physics won't allow it. I suppose though, this all depends on your definition of good. My mother thinks Bose is good. I disagree.

When I first began researching for my system, I had planned to put 4" Boston Acoustics in my stock front location. They sounded the best to my ears against the Polks, Infinitys, etc... Also, they are completely made in America, if you care about stuff like that. They were to be driven with a 75w amp. A 12" JLW3 would be anchoring the bottom end of the spectrum. Even with that set up, I would be missing a lot of the snap of the kick drums that make for dynamic sound.

I think the biggest bang for your buck right now would be to upgrade to a CD player.
