hey people,
i wonder what kinda box you guys putting your sub into and what you guys think.
I got a MTX 6000 series sub with a sealed box of 1 cubic feet. it sounds pretty good at low to middle volume, but the thing is, at loud volume (competition level), it doesn't hit or bumb as hard, and instead, it just kinda vibrate and make noise i guess?
well, i was thinking about buying single bandpass box...and would like to ask you people what you think? My prediction is that it would be very deep at certain note, but other frequencies won't hit as hard....
so....what do you people have? sealed? ported? bandpass? pros? cons?
and btw....this is going to be in the trunk of a Gen 3 Camry....something to think about
The MTX 6000 series sub has that one major flaw, due to the design of the surround it prohibits it from hitting correct tones under extreme load, however is very responsive at normal levals. If you want this sub to sound proper you will need to put it in a ported box which is about 1.75cu.ft with a 2 x 7in port (i think thats right). This will basicly produce tones when the sub is basicly just fluttering but will also keep most of your normal volume tones in tune.
hehe, yeah, my bad about posting it in the wrong location, that was an accident...it happened because i was browsing two forums at a time, and AV was the other one, so i accidently post in comp/hardcore/ etc.... yeah, right when i noticed this, i tried to move it but didn't know how to, instead i tried to delete it, i wasn't able to do that also.. well, my friend said that the next time this happen, i'm suppose to just create a post that says "move me to (fill in blank)" and the moderators will do that? is this true?
anyways...so Hatch, how do you know so much about the MTX 6000 series subs? hehe, sounds like you use to work for them or something, i mean, you were down to the details about 7" by 2", well, i was wondering, cuz you said PORTED, would bandpass equally be okay? cuz the place i buy my stuff doesn't have ported i believe, only sealed and bandpass, so what you think?
First question, what direction is the sub pointing, if your pointing it towards the seat, then you might be getting bass cancellation, I'd suggest pointing it to the rear first see if that helps.
Second, dont buy prefab boxes. Every speaker requires a certain size box. What size sub is it.
Specs for ported subs
If its a 10" recommended is 1.5cft tuned to 32Hz,
It its a 12" recommended is 2.0cft tuned to 32Hz.
I would go slot ported on either one, dont go bandpass, dont sound like a$$ except for like 1 frequency

I have a MTX 6124, it's a 12 inch with 250 Watts RMS, how exactly do i tuned a box to 32 hz? the only box i know of are the one that you can buy in store, building your own box sounds too hard
so serirously? a bandpass box is shit? damn....i was so close to getting one, but isn't that just like opinion based also? cuz the deepest bass i heard were from bandpass boxes,
bandpass = DEEP bass
sealed = loud tight bass
i don't know where ported fit in this trend, too bad i don't have that much money to try all
MR Marv can build you a ported box to spec, that will cost you less for the bandpass. If you want to go bandpass then get an ABC box, they are a liitle more complex though and take up a whole lot of room. Anyway here is the link to his website, just give him a call and tell him Eddie sent you, he'll hook you up. Shipping to San Diego will not be too expensive at all.
thank's a lot eddie, i'll give him a holla, hopefully it doesn't cost that much, hah, cuz seriously, i don't have a money tree in the backyard, but i WOULD like good sound, so we'll see....
