4th Gen Speaker/Stereo Help

hi there,

i searched a lot but i couldn't find the answers to my questions, can someone please help me. i blew one of the 6x9's in the rear. i have a 2000 XLE with the JBL premium system.

i'm planning on purchasing Pioneer TS-A6980 4-way speakers (was gonna get 3-way, but the price diff wasn't too much, was gonna get 2-way but the 3-way price diff wasn't much more ...). i don't wanna spend much money at all, but i don't mind spending $20 or so more if anyone can sujjest any better speakers. components are out of the question.

my question: Are there any speakers that'll fit in the stock position without requiring drilling and extensive work? (apart from stock speakers).

question 2: I know i have a stock amp. Am i right in assuming its 4-channel? can i buy another 4-channel amp and replace the stock one directly with it?

thank you

jl audio, infinite, and audiobahn are a just a few good name brand speakers that you can get. Most if not all aftermarket 6x9's are going to require you to drill new mounting holes because they use four screw instead of 3 like the stock ones.

You cant replace the factory amp with another amp because they are not the same. Im not sure if yours is in the same position as mine but in a 97 LE its located behind the glove box. you can bypass the amp and wire up a your four channel amp but unless you know what your doing I wouldnt touch it. If you have any other questions just pm me or post it.

Just make a speaker baffle, it will also reduce vibration from the rear deck.
