New rear speakers

Currently, my 2002 corolla does not have any rear speakers. I am planning to buy rear speakers and install them myself as a learning experience.

What sort of tools should I need?
And how would I cut the holes in the back to fit the speakers in?
What kind of wires do I use to connect the speakers from the head unit?

Something to cut the holes. Either a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade (fine tooth blade) or a air powered bodysaw.

Drill, screwdriver, and crimpers.

What kind of wires do I use to connect the speakers from the head unit?

18/2 or 16/2 speaker wire.

18/2 = 18 guage, 2 conductor
16/2 = 16 guage, 2 conductor
