04 Corolla S - Factory Alarm

I recently installed a Viper 160XV on my girlfriend's 2004 Corolla S. The Viper 160XV is only a remote start unit with door lock/unlock.

Everything on the 160XV functions as it should. All of the safety shutdown features, the remote start function, and the lock/unlock feature of the alarm work perfectly.

My problem begins with the factory alarm. Sometimes, when the door is opened with the Viper remote, the factory alarm goes off. I have read several wiring guides from different sources (DEI, the12volt, etc.) that specify that the factory alarm is armed/disarmed with the locking/unlocking of the vehicle.

The Viper unit is independent from the Factory Alarm. I have made no disarm wire connections from the Viper to the Factory alarm per the wiring guides.

I would either like to disconnect the factory alarm completely or find a way to disarm it via the Viper 160XV disarm wire. Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC, you need to disarm the factory alarm from the remote start module. I believe it should be a blue wire that needs to tap into the negative trigger of the factory disarm. Did you have to use a 555X or 555U?

I did not need to use a 555X or 555U to get the remote start to work.

Is the blue wire you are speaking of in the ignition harness?

No it would be comming off the remote start brain. I'm pretty sure it's blue too, but if you get the instalation manual for the remote start brain, you will see it gives you a wire to disable/biapass the alarm system (might be called "Sensor Bypass") You must use this, probably in combination with a relay, to make it shutdown or biapass the factory alarm system.

I know that the remote start module has this option, but my problem is with the factory alarm. Where do I connect the Viper disarm wire.

I don't see a wire on any wiring guide that denotes the factory alarm.

well let me ask this, when you unlocked the car in the door with the key and opened the door, did the alarm go off. If so take the car back to the dealer cause the alarm is broken. If it doesn't go off (and it shouldn't) then make sure that the doorlock/unlock is wired off of that circuit. Chances are it was wired in somewhere else after the alarm circuit and that's why it isn't being disabled.

A-ha!!! I'm pretty sure this is the solution to your problem. You need to connect the status output (blue) wire from the remote start to the KEY SENSE wire, which is the same as the factory disarm. It is the blue/black wire in the ignition harness. I had to wait until Directechs come back live again.
