its actually in my friend's talon but he's useless so he wont take it to get help or anything. but it bugs me when i'm there, and you guys are smrt
his system is currently the best system in town...however he has a slight problem with the bass causing the cd to skip. is there any way to fix this? possibly wrap the cd player in dynamat or somethin?
ive seen some seriously loud systems, but only rarely have i seen them cause the player to skip.
mine will skip on one song, but thats it.
the only thing i could think for him to do, would be to dampen the area around the player, id be afraid to mat the deck, would probably cause serious overheating problems

My friend had three 12" HX2's in a toyota pickup (extended cab) and it made his kenwood excelon skip. So, maybe something better than a kenwood excelon wont skip.
if his system really is that great, then it may not really be because the headunit is not good enough....it'll probably do it to just about any brand/make
try making a floating system for it

hmm...maybe we can pull his out, put my new pioneer in to test it before i install it in my car
his system is the best in town, but i know they get better and have more bass without skip. i've never actually seen a floating head but i actually thought about it.
No need to go through all that switching out head units. It's either one of two things.. you guys got that right. 1. The head unit build quality is causing the skips or 2. (more likely), the dash is causing the head unit to skip.
There is a simple way to find out which one of the above is causing the skipping. Unmount the CD player and hold it in your hand... turn up the bass. If it still skips it's because of the head unit. Only way to fix it is to replace. If it no longer skips you need to work on your dash or upgrade to a more withstanding head unit.
for one i do recomend he looks into getting a new head unit, and if that doesnt solve the problem then try hitting the dash to see if that really makes it skip cause if it does then the vibrating going on in the dash is makeing it skip.........my opinion
