horrible bass

the bass in my car isn't as good as most(6.5s & 6.9s) they are jbl gto's.... i think my friend installed my deck wrong when he installed it he just color coded the wiring. but if this is true would the sound even come out?

on the wiring harness on the back of my deck he doesn't have a tester to see what is what so he just matched the blue with the blue red wit red yada yada yada...

with aftermarket stereos the harness is made to simply match up colors. the reason the bass doesnt sound good is probably because the bass is too high on the deck or the speakers are just crap. i installed my old pioneer in my boy's galant and when we turned it up the bass sounded like ass, but thats because the speakers are still the crappy stock ones. so check the output levels on your stereo or get new speakers. stock speakers were never meant to sound good with aftermarket stereos.
