midbass help

I noticed that there is a cutaway hole in the bottom metal plate under the rear deck. It looks to be able to accomodate an 8" sub or so. My question is: does anyone know if I put, say a jl w3 8 in there will it improve my midbass and will it interfere or be interfered with, by my two fifteens (in a box just below the hole in question). The 8 would be functioning infinite baffle which is also something I don't know a terrific amount about. any suggestions/answers/ideas/ pics or your use of this hole would all be greatly appriciated. thanks

You can do that. I would make a fiberglass baffle to make it an air tight enclose for sq reasons and also to be sealed off from the pressure of the 2 15's. You can also maybe put some 8" midbass's in the front doors. Then make kickpods for the 6" midrange.

i know less than nothing about building with fiberglass. it seems to me though that it would be really had to fabricate a box to fit airtight onto the metal under the rear deck. Is this simply fiberglass noobism talking or would that truely be very hard.
can you think of any other ways to separate the areas?

build a box for the speaker then cut a hole in your rear deck and slide it in there

You cannot just drop in a 8W3 into the rear deck and expect it to function as an infinite baffle driver. It will sound terrible. You will need to build an enclosure.

I would like to build an enclosure, but I would like to integrate it into the rear deck. The hole that is in the deck appears to be big enough to accomodate an 8" should I build an enclosure incoorporating the rear deck or build and then cut the dec kto fit. if that is the case what tools would one use, a sawsall? a router?
any suggestions please

I have a really good site on fiberglassing enclosures, I'll post it when I get home from work.

The easiest thing to do is buy an IB sub (ie image dyanmics) and just seal off the rear from the front.
