Is this a good box for what imma do with it im wanting to put a Led in the top to pulse with (music Interface) i want it to bounce with the beat is it possible with any box

Are you looking for a sound quality setup or are you more into SPL? A bandpass box will be louder than a sealed but usually with the sealed you get better sound quality. You can put a neon in that box and even in the obcon boxes.
That's last years model I believe. It's geared more towards SPL and not SQ. For the money it isn't that bad. It comes with a neon as well. Don't pay more than $300 for it or it's not worth your cash.
You're really paying for the box design with that setup, keep that in mind before you buy. You can get better quality for your money if you go with a normal prefab enclosure or handmade.
I'm pretty sure that you can make a light strobe or pulse with any box, you just have to hook a 12volt light to your speakers, I forgot how to do it since it has been so long. (I think you can just ground your light and then hook your positive wire to one of your positive speaker wire terminals....I think.) You're probably better off fabricating your own box though. the premade boxes are usually made for a universal application, and certain speakers require more or less airspace, plus some achieve higher spl with different sized ports on the box tuned to a certain frequency.
Do you have wins id pro, you can run your graphs, bandpass are not for a daily driver, they are not musical, just tuned to play a frequency very loud, and if you go dual ported well then you have a huge box taking up your whole trunk. Sealed enclosure are best for SQ still get loud, and if you need SQL then ported tuned very low like 25Hz will do the job. whats your email I can send you a few comparisons.

Originally posted by eddiem67 you sure about this, I would really hate to flame a moderator. Now if your talking an ABC box that is a completely different story.
If you feel the need to flame anyone, even a moderator, go ahead. I opened the door up for you. Educate me.
Let's see some graphs!!!
Here are some things I like to see:
1) Bode plot
2) Transconductance chart
3) Impedance curve
4) S/N ratio
5) Frequency response
6) -3dB and -6dB curves
7) Smith chart
8) Excursion limit
Oh btw, I like to see some real performance numbers, not some Windoze software simulation.
Well I did a output curve, I can do excurision, impedance, spl limit if you like, but I believe the most important is output.
Unless your an SPL freak then even a 6th order setup would be better than a 4th order, I will email you the plot, as you will see that taking a single brahma 12 slot ported has a better output between 20Hz to 100Hz, where a 4th order (bandpass) has an output peak between 30Hz to 60Hz. At 20Hz, ported is 4 dbs louder than bandpass, At 40-60Hz, ported is 2dbs louder than bandpass, at 70Hz, ported is 3.5 dbs louder than bandpass, at 80Hz ported is 6dbs louder than ported, so just by looking at the output, ported is louder than bandpass. I emailed you the graph, if you can post it I would appreciate it so everyone can see a comparison. That being said bandpass is exactly what it says it pass a certain frequency depending on tuning an allows the sub to play that frequency without over exerting the sub, but a slot port tuned low will sound better and still not work as hard. I have owned sealed, bandpass, ported, used the same same in all three enclosure and determined that I like ported. You said a properly tuned box, I haven't seen anyone on this forum building a bandpass enclosure to spec for their sub, they are buying prefabs, and YOU know you cant just throw any old sub in there.
If anyone would like to see the graph give me your email so I can send it, I cant post a word doc on here, or can I?

Again, you're using software simulation from input parameters. How about using a SPL meter to actually measure the A-weighted and C-weighted output with sine waves at the respective frequencies?

What do you mean? You've tested one speaker in all three types of boxes to determine you like ported?
the program was designed by a SPL competitor, it is about 95% accurate, many people use this software to design their enclosures.
I owned a pair of kicker comps, came in a ported enclosure. Me being young and dumb bought a bandpass for them, got hell of loud in the 45-60 range, sucked ass in the 20-30 range, actually overexcurting them. Then I went to sealed, and loved the accurate punch. I ran sealed for quite some time, ran JLs, RF, Brahma, ID max, and finally went to a slot ported made to the subs specifications. I am actually going back to sealed but only because I am going to run two Maxes and I dont have 6^ft of space in my trunk.
If anyone wants to put up their bandpass against my single 12, you are more than welcome. We can run my IASCA disc to compare I'll even bring my spl meter and sine disc.

Well based on my experience bandpass is a high frequency tuned box.. So I agree with eddiem67. Bandpass plays great at 60-70hz in my experience. Right now i use a sloted port which i don't like too much. I rather sealed. Only positive thing about the slotted port gives me the low 35-45hz bass. I like the earthquake feeling..
I had to laugh about cause this argument comes once a month.
