2000 Camry XLE Stereo install ?

My JBL 6 disk cd player jammed up on me for the second time so I've decided to go with a Clarion cd/mp3 unit.

My question is will I need a wiring harness because crutchfield's website says for the 2000 camry w/out pocket underneath that I won't.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me if that was true or not.

Thank you!

You will NEED a wiring harness. I don't know where Crutchfield get their information from, but it's incorrect. Of course, you'll need a pocket to fill the gap up.

How can I determine which one I'm needing? I'm leaning towards this one myself:

The harness you're looking at will use the OEM amp to power the speakers, through the line-level of the headunit you're looking at. I suggest you don't do that, and bypass the OEM amp completely. Get the two-plug harness type instead. For the double-DIN unit, you wouldn't need a pocket then.
