Argh! Need help debugging batter/memory cable not having power!
gen2 camry
I bought a new cd player today so i disconnected my old one(i wired it up by cutting the OEM plug off becasue i didn't know you could buy a harness at the time).
We wired it up and turned on ignition and we got nothing.
we wire back up the old deck and we got nothing. my clock doesnt work either, neither does my "door ajar" indicator light on the dash.
however when i take the blue and yellow cable and hold it on the red acc cable, everything comes to life.
i have checked every fuse in the car and they are all fine.
I would suggest you reconnect everything like it was stock, rewire the harness, then buy the correct harness.
The blue and yellow wire need power, to tell everything to turn on, they get that from a wire on the harness, and when you connect it to the acc wire, the one that has 12v all the time, everything powers up.
you could also try wiring the blue to another switched 12v source, like your cig lighter, The yellow one needs to be connected all the time, so it can be left on the red. I BELIEVE.

i have the RED wire from my HU conencted to the ACC ON oem wire. i have the BLACK wire grounded. i have the YELLOW wire connected to the BLUE/YELLOW oem wire.
nothing pwoers on. but if i touch the BLUE/YELLOW wire to the RED wire, everything powers up.
somethings goofy with your stock wires then. dont know what, but like i said, try hooking the the yellow to another SWITCHED (as in on when the car is on) 12volt source, like the cigerette lighter.
That yellow wire is what the reciever uses to know when to turn on, if it doesnt have a 12volt signal, it wont turn on, hence why when you connected it to the RED oem wire, it powers up.

From my haynes manual it looks like that is fused on the same fuse as the Dome light, not sure where that is, but check in the drivers side fuse compartment.
