First time here, looking for advices on my 2005 Camry + ipod

Hello everyone,

Just discovered this wonderful forum when I was searching for solutions on my new camry.

I got a 2005 Camry LE yesterday. And unfortunately, the car audio system only consists a cd player and FM tuner (the regular system, not the JBL ones, nor the navi ones).

Other than getting myself an ipod FM transmitter (which, I dont know how good the broadcast quality is), I wonder if there's any other inexpensive way to get my ipod hooked up?

I am not sure if there's any wires behind the audio system that provides any audio-in.

Also, the system in the G5 2005 camry is a 2-unit right?

Total newb here,

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

You le doesn't have a cassette player? If it does use the cassette adapter. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...More=T4332LL/A

my new 2005 LE does not have a cassette player, and that's the problem. Unlike my old 1996 XLE, it did have a cassette player, and that thing was what I used to use before. Oh well~

any more solutions?

well the best way to go would be get a alpine head unit, with the 'ai-net controll' then the 'ka-100'? i think.. which you all connect togher and get the signal right from the ipod into the head unit [which is going to get you the best signal quality]... i think that all would go for.. about 300-400 if you went thru ebay and all... [www.alpine-usa.com] you also need to have a gen 3 or gen 4 ipod...

He's reffering to the cd/cassette/am-fm radio reciever in his car. Flyhen I think you are stuck with using the fm transmiter. Unless you want to upgrade your cd player to an aftermarket head unit.

if your head unit has a tape or cd changer button on the face but doesnt have the tape or changer installed you can buy an adapter that plugs into the back and when you press the tape button it will switch the unit to your i-pod

really?!?! please tell me how it's done.. i believe the 2005 LE is the same as 2004 Le's (standard 1 slot-loading CD player with FM/AM tuner). I believe it's a 2-unit system. As far as button goes, I only noticed FM1, FM2, CD, AM... is there somethinng that's missing?

What you need is an adapter from PIE or Blitzsafe to convert the changer port on the back of the headunit to RCA inputs, then get a 1/8" mini-jack to RCA converter for the iPod from, say, Radio Shack.
