2004 solara head unit replacement kit?

this is my girlfriend's car so I don't want to dump too much money into it (rather that dump plenty into mine, hehehe)

I just gave her iPod as a gift, now the only way to make that work was to go fm modulator route - and as you all guessed it, sound kind of sucks.

Now the head unit is standard, not the upgraded one, so it doesn't have cassette and I don't think it has cd changer controls or any AUX input for that matter.

So the only solution is to replace the head unit.
Obviously she wants to keep everything as much stock-looking as possible, and steering wheel controls have to work too.

the biggest problem is that custom faceplate (ours is silver one), anyone sells kits for single or double-DIN stereos?

Thanks!

Thanks, they just released one, so I'll see how that one will work out for somebody else before I buy it

I think all you need is the PIE adapter. I just finished putting one in my wife's 2001 Solara. It was a 15 minute installation. I bought the adapter from XMfanstore.com

It works great, you hit the CD button a 2nd time and it goes to the MP3 player.

In the big picture of things, I'm installing an XM Commander unit that'll go in via the PIE adapter. I did the same thing in my Sporttrac last month. Has anyone else done this? I"m looking for creative ideas on running the antenna....
