yup, the total count of blown 12 inch Rockford Fozgate Punches in my bro's car is now 3...

the 1st two lasted 2 weeks..

the new one lasted 2 days...

is this bullshit or what..?

what are your experiences with these speakers?

Turn the amp gain down. After a certain point, the sub won't go any louder. You're just pumping extra power to blow the sub.

well, he has two amps...

but the thing is, he had 2 10s before, and those were taken out, and replaced with the Punches...

they never gave any problems, and he used to put the volume higher with those...


they were kenwoods, i believe..

are you properly breaking in the sub, most subs require a break in period.

the old punches were slightly used...

the new one was use around, 17 (head unit goes up to 31), and it just blew out...

normally i'd say it's just a cheap one, but 3..?

You gotta listen very carefully to prevent distortion. When it so loud, its hard to tell sometime. Try lower the gain and increase it slowly and pay attention to distortion. It should be all clean solid bass, not vibrations. The bass should just hit hard but not shacking everything.
I blew my first sub too, good to have warranty
Was cranking it higher and higher and boom.

Ive seen nothing but crap from fosgate's speaker too.

blew 2 12"s and betweem me and my friends, 6- 2 or 3-way speakers.

never buying fosgate speakers again.

my bro's no stranger to sound systems, he's had multiple systems in the Camry, and now in his SC300...

he's been working with them since he was 15 (he's 22 now), and this is the first time he's blown a sub...

Solo barics arent open air...

15" L7's need like 1.5-3.5 cubic feet of box to work to their potential.

the L7's arent the cleanest thing in world. But they sure are loud, im doign to fo them in a fiberglass wheel well box. Looks pretty cool, YES Phi i still need to paint it..........or do i :wink:
