Question reguarding RCA preouts and HU crossover ajustment

I have the Sony CDX-R3000 HU and it only has 1 set of rca preouts. I've got my sub amp running to them. On the HU, i can turn down then Subwoofer, Low, Mid, and High. Now if i were to purchase a second amplifier for my speakers and connect them to the rca preouts on the hu via a y cable so both amps can get the signal, if i adjust the subwoofer setting on the HU, will it make the speakers quieter?

Cliffs: DOes teh subwoofer adjustment on a HU just block out the bass frequencies from being broadcasted to the rca preouts or does it make the rca preout signal weaker?

From the description at Crutchfield, the preout is selectable for either rears or subs - not both.

It sounds like the R3000 is perfect for the setup you have now, but if you try to attempt the setup you described yous speakers will turn into little itty-bitty subs.

Someone else may have better knowledge with this HU, but from what I read it doesn't look like that new setup idea will work.

If you buy another amp, make sure it has a pass through output on it, then you can run 2 amps off of 1 rca preout from your HU.
