A high farad cap is useful after you've upgraded your battery/alt and wiring and still receive some issues. If you're asking this question, you don't need one.
If your lights dim when your subwoofer makes a hard hit, then your amp is drawing too much power from your alt/battery. A cap stays charged so when the amp needs a ton of pwoer really quick, it draws it from the cap.

Never. Upgrade the big three wires with leftover amp wire.
It's not only a FREE electrical mod, but unlike a cap, it'll actually help a diming problem! If you still have any diming left, it's time for an alt upgrade.
