Well...I checked at an audio shop in town last weekend and the guy there referred Dominic Iraggi also. So I called him up and he said he will sell me a 180 amp alternator for $379. He said it is direct bolt on and I could have it in barely over a week I think is what he said. What do you guys think?

I'd find out if that 130a unit from an 01+ highlander will fit first.
You can get them off car-part.com for 75 and up.
A factory rated 130a will actually put out around the 180, they are very conservative on their ratings
Get a rebuilt one, unless youre running some serious SPL setup.
And yes, a spiral coil battery would help as well. Not only is the battery able to charge and discharge frequently, but it takes a FRACTION of the time to charge one than a standard battery.
If it charges in less time, you're less likely to kill it.

well...what i think ive decided to do...partially by influence of money...is go to pepboys and get abt a 90a alt., optima yellowtop battery and also do the 'big 3' upgrade ppl have been talking about. if any more problems exist ill just get a capacitator....itll be cheaper than the HO alt and its gonna be awhile before i actually get to put my plans for my sound system into action so this will work for the time being....

I have a voltmeter on my battery and it sometimes reads 14.4v with my car started, does this mean i have a bad alt. Also how do you disconnect the positive wire on the battery where is it connected, i want to change it to 4 guage wire..thanks...
Ive been checking it all today, and it hasn't run a 14.4 again, i think the battery was cold or something. But anyway, i added a 150 anl fuse holder to the + on the alt to the +on the battery, and it still cuts off, next thing i will do is add a battery, i will maybe do this tommorow, if that doesn't work, i will change the ground wires, then if that doesn't work, i'll give up on my sound system, how do you disconnect the positive wire going to the battery...
