the only time you need a brain on most dvd's is either to upgrade to 5.1 (older ones) or if you are integrating components (ie a screen and signal processor and dvd)

why dont you just get a more current model that already plays mp3 and dvds instead of having 2 separate, older units? and to answer your question (which i dont remember anymore) you can wire them together but you'll have to use the signal output from one and plug into into the auxiliary input on the other. so basically take the front and rear outputs from the regular cd/mp3 player and run some rca's to the auxiliary on the HU with the screen. wait i read the question, the brain is for processing dvd's if that HU is only a cd player then it shouldnt have a brain.

Boi, I'm not sure if the two units will work together. I'm thinking it should though via the IP-Bus. Worse case scenerio you get a IP to RCA convertor...which I think I have laying around somewhere.
