I read on page 2 yall were talking about Type Rs. I got one friend with two Type R 12s and another guy with 3 of them. IMO the Type Rs are as loud as W6s, and sound cleaner. Anyone who says Type Rs arent loud probably just didnt have a good enough amp pushing it. Just two type R 12s are so loud that it makes my heart skip a beat. Alpines definitely a good brand...and like said earlier, Eclipse is also very good when it comes to radios. go with alpine all the way man...except maybe for the amps

Eddiem67,

Well, you're going to have a heart attack when I tell you I quoted the low end of the spectrum. The 200 for a sealed enclosure for a 12" was from my local Tweeter. I was quoted 250+ for the same at Competition Soundwerks of Cerritos. Here's the kepper. I got a quote from the Legendary Speakerworks for .... $500.00.

Mind you, this is a simple 3/4" square carpeted box for a 12" woofer. I eventually found a ported JL 10W0 that some customer didn't pick up. 150 bucks out the door.

I am going to upgrade my sub sometime next year. I am looking at possibly 2 Shivas at about 200w each. I will save your friends link. Thank you.

JohnCWms27,

I audition some sealed Type R 12's along with a sealed MB Quart 12 and my eventual ported 10WO. Of the three, the Alpine was the cleanest but lack balls. The Quart, we don't need to talk about and the JL exhibited the best overall performance. I've listened to a Eclipse 10 in an upfront configuration and it was superlative. I figure as long as you get something decent, it is all in the application. My 2 cents...
