Need help choosing

Well guys I have a 2002 Camry LE with the JBL speakers in it right now no navigation system. I was thinking about upgrading with an Alpine system I got 2 different setups on the site but now I have a few questions. Is alpine good or is there something better out there? Is there a major difference in bass between 12"s and 15" subs? And my last question is one of the systems has 2 amps one mono and one 4/3/2 Channel Power amp. The other just has the mono amp does getting 2 seperate amps make the system sound better? Budget right now is looking to be around $2200 at most.

12 and 15's are relative close for sound, 15's tend to be louder but take up more room. Alpine makes some very nice HU, also look into Eclipse and Pioneer. What is your goal? 5.1 system, an SQ system, an SPL...

Relatively speaking, a 15 will go lower than a 12.

Are you just upgrading the sub section of your system? The 2 amp set-up is perfect for a full range system while the singular mono amp set-up is strictly for subwoofer activity(or mono AM radio bumping).

I don't suppose you listen to alot of organ music or John Williams, do you?

2200 bucks will get you some really nice sound.

like rawdawg said.. 15s go lower and of course.. louder, also usually when going to larger speakers (15s +) you start to lose SQ unless they were designed for it.. such as the thump in bassnotes. 2 amp setups are probably most common.. 4ch running your front and rear stage and mono for your sub/subs, the more power the better ! its easier to blow a speaker with too little power than it is with too much, hard core guys would run a 2ch amp for each pair of speakers in their system.. im running a 4ch and a mono

yea I saw that on the alpine system builder they had an amp for every speaker and I think one for the sub. I think I just need to decide which company to go with I'm thinking about going all alpine but maybe I should mix it up

There is so much better stuff out there for less money, lets start with your HU, if your going with a flip up or double din screen, those will run you around 1500 bucks, that only leaves 700 for the remainder of your system. Is this what your doing.

CDA-9827
This one is the CDA-9827 costs $260.00 the other one that I was thinking about was this one

CDA-9833
This one is the CDA-9833 it costs $450.00

I talked to my friend who already has a system in his car he said keep the head unit and the amps but speakers I would have to go somewhere else for. JL subs probably. I also don't plan to get any video for the car because I won't be watching it while I'm driving anyway so don't need it. I think I heard something about a cover they sell at circuit city that can cover up the large hole underneath the Head Unit

Eclipse 8454 Head Unit 500.00
DLS 6.2 Speakers 480.00
DLS A3 amp 475.00-you can also look at used Arc Audio
DLS A6 amp 400.00-"
Brahma 12 or ID Max Sub 300-400
Custom marv enclosure made to sub specs 100-125
Amp kit 70.00

This is one slammin system for 2450.00-you can give or take on HU and amps but this will be one top notch system as is.

im selling 2 12" JL W3V2's in a custom box built by tweeter.... the subs are slightly used. Im just looking for something a little louder like a w6 or w7. The box is built to the specs of the subs and they hit really nice. let me know if you are interested. i have some pics if you want.

Only reason I was really going with an alpine head unit is because of the fact they have the new iPod hookup that plugs right in to the head unit and you can look through your stuff on the iPod through the HU. I'll think about those subs too I just gotta think it over before spending a lot of money

Based on the system I designed total current draw would be 170 amps, so a 180 amp HO Alt should do the trick. If you run anything over a 1000 watts, definitely upgrade the battery for starters, always upgrade the big 3, DO NOT invest in a cap. Alt would be las result

I love your budget. But what is the sound you want I don't want to recommend a setup without a specific sound. It would be bias setup because it would be what i like. What's your input in your system? What is the impact you want? ex.Looks or Performance SQ or SPL.

As 15in subs go it's really a waste of time unless you want SPL sound. 15in subs play frequencies unheard of . 12in is good enough.
